Green Stem Syndrome - Risk Assessment

The causes of green stem syndrome are not yet know. The following factors have been frequently associated with green stem:

  • low soil moisture
  • delayed planting
  • virus infections, although not all green stem plants test positive for viruses
  • soybean varieties differ in the incidence of green stem
  • low plant populations - this can be associated with greater insect pressure, which may serve as vectors of virus.
