NCSRP-Sponsored Rust Training Has Gone International
Canadians from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the University of Guelph, the Ontario Soybean Growers and industry partners attended an NCSRP-sponsored rust training at the University of Florida’s Quincy Research Station. The group was joined by faculty from the University of Nebraska, as well as representatives from the Nebraska Soybean Board and the North Carolina Soybean Board and faculty from the University of Missouri and South Dakota State University The 88 people who attended the training learned first-hand how to scout for and identify rust in field situations. They also were able to look at the disease under a microscope and heard updates on the checkoff funded research being conducted at the research station.
With this group, more than 450 crop professionals, university faculty and soybean producers have been trained at the station in the past four years.
The NCSRP-sponsored rust training is available to anyone involved in the soybean industry. The optimal time to visit the research station is from late July through September and the training lasts a day and a half.
