Soybean Aphid Research Update

The “2008 Soybean Aphid Research Update from North Central Research Program” highlights advances in soybean aphid management that have been discovered by scientists in the last three years. One of the key highlights is the discovery of a new, parasitoid, stingless wasp that researchers have released as a possible means of suppressing aphid populations.

This exciting biocontrol tactic was almost entirely funded by soybean producers to protect their crop.

“From biocontrol and genetic resistance, to early warning and treatment recommendations, your checkoff dollars cover a lot of ground when it comes to helping you manage aphids,” says Jerry Wise, NCSRP president from Haven, Kan.

You can also find the latest crop management recommendations in “Manage Soybean Rust from the Ground Up.” High yield soybeans don’t just happen; it takes a sound decision-making process. Producers who provide timely management options consistently harvest greater yields. You can find both publications and more at www.planthealth.info/publications.
